Note on Alteration: The suit was originally too loose (size XL while I wear Medium). My sister helped tailor it for a better fit. To prevent the excess internal fabric from bunching up or creating awkward wrinkles on the outside, the inner allowance cloth was trimmed/cut as advised. 
Summary: The structural cut is purely on the inside lining/extra cloth to ensure a smooth look; it is not damaged or torn anywhere, and the outer fabric is in flawless condition.
